Overview of DHCP Server Parameters

The following parameters are available from the DHCP Server Configuration screen:
• Enable DHCP Server: When enabled, the AP acts as a DHCP server and assigns subscribers IP addresses.
• Enable DHCP Server IP Upsell: When enabled, the AP assigns subscribers private IP addresses before
authentication and public IP addresses after authentication. See
Note that if DHCP Server is not enabled, you will not be able to enable DHCP Server IP Upsell.
• Enable DHCP Relay: When enabled, subscribers obtain IP addresses from an external DHCP server.
• Enable DHCP Relay IP Upsell: When enabled, an external DHCP server assigns subscribers public IP addresses
after authentication. See
• DHCP Relay Agent IP: Designates the IP address of the DHCP Relay Agent. If the DHCP Relay Server is on the
same IP network as the AP, leave this parameter set to 0.0.0.0. If the DHCP Relay Server and the AP are on
different IP networks, set this parameter so it matches the AP's IP address.
• DHCP Relay Agent ID: Configures the Relay Agent Information Option (option 82). The Relay Agent ID is
included when forwarding client-originated DHCP packets to the DHCP server. DHCP servers that support the
Relay Agent Information option may use the information in the assignment of IP addresses or other parameters.
• DHCP Relay Server IP: The IP address of the remote DHCP server that will provide IP addresses to subscribers.
The AP will forward DHCP requests from these clients to the DHCP Relay server.
