Public Space Parameters
• Enable IEEE 802.1x: Enable this option to support 802.1x authentication. Note that AAA Services and AAA
RADIUS must also be enabled to support 802.1x authentication.
• Enable Origin Server Encoding: Enable this option to support the Origin Server (OS) parameter.
• Block ICMP Packets (from pending): The Block ICMP Packets (from pending) box allows you to block all ICMP
traffic from "pending" (non-authenticated) users that is destined to addresses other than those defined in the
pass-through list. The default setting is disabled since ICMP pass-through is a useful end-user troubleshooting
feature and is also required by certain smart clients. Enable this option to block ICMP traffic from
non-authenticated users.
• Enable XML Interface: Enable this option to configure the AP to support XML (Extensible Markup Language)
commands received from the XML Sender IP Address. The XML interface can be used with Internal or External
authentication but is generally used in conjunction with External authentication. XML commands are appended to a
URL in the form of an encoded query string. The AP parses the query string, executes the commands specified by
the string, and returns data to the IP address that initiated the command request. See

• XML Sender IP Address: The IP address of the external device that can send XML commands to the AP. If using
EWS authentication, this should be the IP address of your External Web Server. If using IWS authentication, enter
the IP address of the network computer from which the AP will accept XML commands (XML is optional with IWS
authentication).
• Authentication Method: After enabling AAA Services, select your authentication method: Internal Web Server
(IWS) or External Web Server (EWS).
