If you plan to offer a free billing plan (see
The Default Free Access Time specifies (in days) how long a customer will have uninterrupted free
Internet access.
The Maximum Lifetime specifies (in days) the maximum amount of time a customer can use the free
billing plan.
The Web browser interface labels this parameter in Mins but it should be Days.
For example, if you set Default Free Access Time to 1 day and Maximum Lifetime to 2 days, here is
how the customer interacts with the AP:
— Customer enters hotspot and is prompted to select a billing plan.
— Customer selects free billing plan.
— Customer has free access for one day.
— After one day, the customer is prompted again by the New User screen to select a billing plan.
— If the customer again selects the free plan, he will have free access for one more day (since the
Maximum Lifetime for free access is set to 2 days).

If you plan to offer a free billing plan, configure the Promotional Code Options.
Enter a name or set of characters for the promotional code in the Code Definition field.
The Percentage Discount specifies a 1-99% percentage discount for the promotional code.

Click the Plan 0 tab.
10. Configure the settings for billing plan 0.
Place a check mark in the Assigned box and the Enable Plan box to make the plan active. It will appear
as an option in the New User screen presented to subscribers.
Enter a description for this billing option in the Description of Service field (140 characters maximum).
Define the Upstream Bandwidth (to network) and Downstream Bandwidth (to subscriber) range for
this billing plan.
Define the DHCP Pool: Private or Public.
— The public option requires IP Upsell to be turned on. If you want to use IP Upsell, be sure to configure
at least one plan to use Public IP addresses. See
Enter a name for the plan in the Plan Label field. Each plan must have a unique label.
To make this billing plan a duration-based plan, place a check mark in the EnableXoverY box. A duration
based plan is a billing plan that is similar to a prepaid calling card. Users are allowed online on a time "X"
over period "Y" basis. For example, 8 hours to be used over 5 days.
For duration-based billing plans, configure the Plan Duration (the time) and Plan Cost (in dollars).
Select the Time Unit for Plan Duration (the time unit of the billable event) as Minute, Hour, Day, Week,
or Month. Week and Month can be selected for normal billing plans only.
For duration-based billing plans (if you have enabled the EnableXoverY option), configure the Plan
Validity. The Plan Validity indicates the period over which the time can be used. Select the Time Unit for
Plan Validity as Day, Week, or Month.
For normal billing plans (if you have not enabled the EnableXoverY option), define the pricing schemes
for this billing plan (Rate Per Minute, Rate Per Hour, Rate Per Day, Rate Per Week, and Rate Per
Month).
Click OK.
