REMOVING THE REAR WHEEL (DISC)

1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Remove:
Rear wheel
G
NOTE:
Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
3. Remove:
Brake caliper "1"

NOTE:
Do not depress the brake pedal when removing
the brake caliper.

4. Loosen:
Locknut "1"

Adjusting nut "2"
G
5. Remove:
Wheel axle nut "3"
G
Wheel axle
G
Rear wheel
G
NOTE:
Push the rear wheel forward and remove the
drive chain from the rear wheel sprocket.

6. Remove:
Spacer (left)

Spacer (right)
G

DISASSEMBLING THE REAR WHEEL

1. Remove:
Oil seals
G
Wheel bearings
G
Refer to "DISASSEMBLING THE FRONT
WHEEL" on page 4-4.

CHECKING THE REAR WHEEL

1. Check:
Wheel axle
G
Rear wheel
G
Wheel bearings
G
Oil seals
G
Refer to "CHECKING THE FRONT WHEEL"
on page 4-4.
2. Check:
Tire
G
Rear wheel
G
Damage/wear → Replace.
Refer to "CHECKING THE TIRES" on page
3-30 and "CHECKING THE WHEELS" on
page 3-32.
3. Measure:
Radial wheel runout
G
Lateral wheel runout
G
Refer to "CHECKING THE FRONT WHEEL"
on page 4-4.

CHECKING THE REAR WHEEL DRIVE HUB

1. Check:
Rear wheel drive hub
G
Cracks/damage → Replace.
Rear wheel drive hub dampers
G
Damage/wear → Replace.

CHECKING THE REAR WHEEL SPROCKET

1. Check:
Rear wheel sprocket
G
Tooth face "a" is worn above 1/4→ replace
drive chain, drive sprocket, rear wheel
sprocket as a set.
Bends→Replace the drive chain, drive
sprocket and rear wheel sprocket as a set.
