Configuring system name and access settings

The System administration
means by which it is accessed by administrators.
Configuring the system name
The System name is used to identify the VCS. It appears in various places in the web interface, and in the
display on the front panel of the unit (so that you can identify it when it is in a rack with other systems). The
System name is also used by TMS.
You are recommended to give the VCS a name that allows you to easily and uniquely identify it.
Administration access
While it is possible to administer the VCS via a PC connected directly to the unit via a serial cable, you may
want to access the system remotely over IP. You can do this using either or both:
the web interface, via HTTPS

a command line interface, via SSH or Telnet

The configurable options are:
Field Description
Session time The number of minutes that
out an administration session
(serial port, HTTPS, Telnet or
SSH) or a user (FindMe)
session may be inactive
before the session is timed
out. Default is 30 minutes.
Per-account The number of concurrent
session limit sessions that each individual
administrator account is
allowed on each VCS.
System The maximum number of
session limit concurrent administrator
sessions allowed on each
VCS.
Serial port / Determines whether the
console system can be accessed
locally via either the serial
port (for a physical system) or
VMware console (for a virtual
machine). Default is On.
