Description
Administrator
Defines where administrator login credentials are authenticated:
authentication
Local: credentials are verified against a local database stored on
source
the VCS.
Remote: credentials are verified against an external credentials
directory, for example Windows Active Directory.
Both: credentials are verified first against a local database stored
on the VCS, and then if no matching account is found the external
credentials directory is used instead.
Default: Local
User
Defines where user login credentials are authenticated:
authentication
Remote: credentials are verified against an external credentials
source
directory (the VCS currently supports only Windows Active
Directory). If a Remote source is selected you need to configure
the appropriate LDAP settings on the
configuration
Local: credentials are verified against a local database stored on
the VCS.
Default: Local
Note that:
After specifying where accounts are authenticated you must set up the appropriate account details or
n
directory service group details (see
details on configuring a remote directory service).
Account names that are stored in the local database are case sensitive.

Configuring remote account authentication using LDAP

The
Login account LDAP configuration
is used to configure an LDAP connection to a remote directory service for administrator and/or user account
authentication.
To use LDAP for account authentication, you must also go to the
page and configure the administrator and/or user authentication sources to use an appropriate remote
authentication option.
The configurable options are:

LDAP server configuration: this section specifies the connection details to the LDAP server.
Server
The IP address or FQDN (or server address,

configured) of the LDAP server.
