PRIMEQUEST 1000 Series General Description
CHAPTER 7 Applicable Components for Hot Maintenance
7.2

Component List

This section describes the components to which hot maintenance can be applied. For details on each component,
see Chapter 3 Component Configuration and Replacement (Addition and Removal) in the PRIMEQUEST 1000
Series Administration Manual (C122-E108EN).
PSU
A PSU alone can be replaced while the system continues running. Replacement of a PSU in a non-redundant
configuration requires the system to be stopped.
Fan
A fan alone can be replaced while the system continues running.
SB
An SB can be replaced during partition maintenance or while the partition power is off.
A DIMM, CPU, battery, built-in USB, or VRM can be physically removed from the SB and replaced individually.
IOB
An IOB can be replaced while the partition power is off in every partition to which the IOB undergoing maintenance
and the connected GSPB belong.
GSPB
A GSPB can be replaced while the partition power is off in every partition to which the GSPB undergoing
maintenance belongs.
SAS disk unit/SAS array disk unit
A SAS disk unit/SAS array disk unit can be replaced while the partition power is off in the partition undergoing
maintenance. A SAS card and BBU can be removed and replaced individually.
An HDD alone can be replaced without removing the unit.
MMB
In a system with two MMBs mounted, hot replacement can be applied to one MMB while the system continues
running. Basically, if one MMB is a faulty, it is switched with the standby MMB. The faulty MMB (standby MMB)
would then be replaced.
To replace the active MMB, it needs to be switched with the standby MMB beforehand. This does not affect controls
and monitoring in the system.
DVD drive
A DVD drive can be replaced while the system continues running. However, the system recognizes such
replacement as the removal and addition of a USB device. Therefore, the person performing this maintenance work
should first confirm that the DVD drive is not selected by any partition.
