8.1

Overview of Operations Management Tools

The operations management tools for the PRIMEQUEST 1000 series include the MMB (management board), UEFI
(Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) that controls hardware for BIOS, BMC (baseboard management
controller), drivers, and operations management software (e.g., SVS (ServerView Suite), PSA (PRIMEQUEST
Server Agent). These tools provide functions for total server system management.
PSA is provided only with the PRIMEQUEST 1800E.
The following figure shows an overall configuration diagram of the operations management tools provided by the
PRIMEQUEST 1000 series.
* PSA runs on the PRIMEQUEST 1800E. SVS runs on the PRIMEQUEST 1800E2.

The MMB firmware controls the entire system in linkage with PSA (on the PRIMEQUEST 1800E), SVS (on the
PRIMEQUEST 1800E2), or other firmware (the BIOS or BMC firmware).
PSA (on the PRIMEQUEST 1800E) or SVS (on the PRIMEQUEST 1800E2) is linked with the MMB in
communication with the IPMI interface via the BMC and in communication with the LAN between PSA and the
MMB.
