MMB (Management Board)

The MMB is a system control unit used for system control and monitoring, partition management, and system
initialization.
At least one MMB is required for system operation. A cabinet can contain up to two MMBs for operation with
duplicated MMBs.
In operation with duplicated MMBs, each MMB communicates with the other to confirm that they are alive. The
UART (communication circuit for signal conversion between serial and parallel signals) is used for communication
for alive confirmation.
Data is synchronized between the MMBs using communication through a LAN interface.

To increase availability, the MMB firmware storage memory has a duplicated (active/standby) configuration. When
an error is detected in the active memory during firmware startup, control is switched to the standby memory to
restart the firmware.
In each model of the PRIMEQUEST 1000 series, a redundant configuration can be established by mounting two
MMBs.
