Provided all users have the necessary file permissions, they will
be able to access, even modify or add to, the documents on the file
server. With Pagis tools, they can attach to databases on the
server, and search for documents in them.
Following are the tasks required to share databases in a
networked environment:
In Windows, make sure the file server is available under Network
Neighborhood. For example:
\\Share_Volume1
On the file server, specify the shared folder to which other users
can have access, for example:
\\Share_Volume1\Shared Documents
Or, you can also specify a shared location using the UNC
(universal naming convention) format. This describes a shared
resource on the network. For example:
\\<Server name>\<Shared point name>
Now, create the Pagis search database.
Finally, network users can attach their Pagis Search Database
Manager to the file server's database. This will allow their Search
Tool to find documents on the file server.
