Adjusting brightness and contrast
In the Editor's Page menu, the Brightness & Contrast command
displays the Brightness & Contrast dialog box (Figure 4–45).
Figure 4–45. Brightness and Contrast dialog box
In this dialog box, you can lighten or darken a page and increase
or decrease the contrast between lighter and darker colors.
You can change the brightness and contrast values either by
typing in numbers or using the sliders. The numerical values
range from -100 to +100, meaning lowest brightness or contrast to
greatest brightness or contrast. A value of zero means the image
should not be changed.
If you scan a photograph that is overly dark or light, or is muddy
or muted in colors, you can adjust the brightness and contrast
accordingly.
Click OK to accept the new brightness and contrast levels. Click
the Defaults button to restore the values to 0. Click Cancel to
close the dialog without accepting the new levels.
Note that if you do not like the results, you can use the Undo
command to restore the brightness and contrast to their original
levels. Make sure you use Undo before doing any other operation,
however.
