Monitors
The system supports the connection of a VGA-compatible monitor, such as NEC
MultiSync 3V and MultiSync XE and XP series monitors, and a resolution
(dependent on the monitor) of up to 1600 by 1200 with 256 colors, 1280 by 1024
with 256 colors, 1024 by 768 with 64,000 colors, 800 by 600 with 64,000 colors,
or 800 by 600 with 16.8 million colors.

Memory expansion
There are four single in-line memory module (SIMM) sockets located on the
system board for the installation of SIMM upgrade kits. The system supports up
to 128 MB of high-speed memory (see "SIMM Upgrade").

Drives
System accommodates a total of six data storage devices. With the standard
diskette drive and hard disk installed in the 3 1/2-inch drive bracket, there is still
one more 3 1/2-inch slot available for a second hard disk drive.
The system also provides three accessible, 5 1/4-inch, 1.6-inch high device slots
for optional storage devices. In multimedia configurations a CD-ROM reader is
installed in the top slot. See "Data Storage Devices" for information on installing
optional devices.

Processor upgrade

A 320-pin zero insertion force (ZIF) socket on the system board supports the
primary processor or an OverDrive processor for upgrades.

External options
Peripherals, such as state-of-the-art parallel printers and serial devices are
compatible with the system. See "Adding External Options" for information about
attaching peripherals to the system unit ports.

REMOVING THE SYSTEM UNIT SIDE PANEL

Before installing optional hardware inside the computer, first remove the system unit side
panel. The side panel must be removed to access internal configuration switches.
NOTE: Incorrect installation of the processor
chip can damage the system board, the chip, or
both. See "Processor Upgrade" for detailed
information.
