Surround Sound

Surround sound, also called SRS 3D sound, in your system is a Sound Retrieval System®,
which goes beyond stereo sound. It creates a three-dimensional sound image with only two
conventional speakers. Using pre-recorded music, it retrieves the spatial information and
restores the original three-dimensional sound field. The reproduced sound is much closer to
a live performance.

MIDI Interface

The system board in your system provides a musical instrument device interface (MIDI) and
connector for the installation of a MIDI/Joystick kit.

Wavetable Synthesis

Your system is Wave Blaster™ upgradeable for wavetable synthesis. A connector on the
system board supports a Wavetable upgrade card for more accurate representations of the
sound of musical instruments. Using an industry-standard Wave Blaster™ module, you can
achieve a better playback sound quality. Wave Blaster is a MIDI synthesizer with
capabilities for producing extremely high fidelity stereo music for computer audio systems.

Quad-Speed CD-ROM

The IDE quad-speed CD-ROM reader is pre-installed as drive E on multimedia
configurations. The reader can be used to load programs from a CD or it can be used to
play audio CDs. The reader operates at different speeds depending on whether the CD
contains music or data. The reader is fully compatible with Kodak Multisession Photo
CDs™ and standard CDs. The reader is connected to the secondary IDE/PCI port.

Speakers

The multimedia systems come with a high-quality stereo speaker set, an AC adapter, and
connecting wires. The speaker set features a volume control, power on/off switch, power
lamp, and a headphone jack. Volume is controlled from the speaker or from the preinstalled
sound system software provided with the AudioStation application program. The speaker
set connects to the speaker line out jack on the back of the system.

Microphone

The microphone that comes with the multimedia systems allows recording of voice and
sound into computer data files. The microphone connects to the MIC jack located on the
back of the system. The microphone works in conjunction with the AudioStation
application program.
