Setting Up Flows Manager

The Flows Manager module allows you to connect to your devices and configure the
output so you can better visualize how the device is operating. Additionally, flows enable
you to visually develop custom data processing algorithms, to prototype applications, and
to generate calculated values that can be converted to setpoints for the RTUs or sent to
the SCADA or the cloud.
The connection to your device can be both incoming and outgoing, allowing you to affect
the device. For example, you can start and stop a device from a flow write to a topic, or
trigger events.
Note
The Flows Manager option is based on Node-RED, a visual programming tool
(https://nodered.org) that visually presents relations and functions and enables you to
program and create JavaScript functions without having to write code. FBxEdge enables
you to run up to four independent instances of Node-RED to maximize resource utilization
on the edge device when relying on algorithms built with flows.
With FBxEdge Manager, you can deploy Node-RED flows in bulk to multiple edge devices,
synchronizing data processing logic and customer applications. (For further information,
see the
Flows and subflows consist of separate canvases located in tabs of the Flow view, which
you use to perform operations that are useful when processing collected data.
Flows allow you to:
1. Collect data from devices in DeviceHub, databases, enterprises systems, and
files of various types
2. Process, filter, and analyze data while implementing JavaScript logic, adding
functions, and including rules and alerts for event processing
3. Create flow templates and deploy them to multiple edge devices.
4. Start, stop, and delete up to four flows
5. Update the memory limit, upload custom node modules, download a flow.json
file, and download the logs for a flow
6. Add new flows up to the maximum allowed memory
7. Include flows in backup/restore and template
8. Set up a dashboard to organize and better visualize your flows
