FBxEdge device. Note Using FBxEdge, you can create a network of field devices linked into a single edge device. You can then use the FBxEdge Manager™ web-based software to connect multiple FBxEdge devices into larger network. For more information on FBxEdge Manager, refer to Emerson FBxEdge Manager User Guide (part D301916X012).
  • Page 7 IIoT solutions. You can connect an unlimited number of devices and map an unlimited number of tags to an individual FBxEdge device. The edge device provides drivers for a multitude of devices and protocols, including DNP3 and ROC Plus.
  • Page 8: Chapter 2. Installing The Fbxedge Device

Chapter 2. Installing the FBxEdge Device Important Emerson offers two edge devices as part of the FBxEdge solution: the default RXi2-LP and the optional RXi2-BP. Consult with your Emerson Impact Partner to determine which edge device best meets your organization’s needs. This section discusses the installation of the RXi2-LP edge device.
  • Page 9: Power Requirements

Emerson FBxEdge User Guide D301913X012 October 2023 Power Requirements The RXi2-LP requires a DC power supply with 24V (± 20%) that delivers at least 1.8A. The corresponding plug is a Phoenix Contact 1748367. Use the same connector type or its equivalent.
  • Page 10: Usb3.2 Gen1 And Usb2 Ports

The RXi2-LP provides four Ethernet ports: two to the left of the serial connections and two to the right of the pair of USB 2x ports. All ports support 10/100/1000 Base-T. For a proper 100/1000 Mbit connection, Emerson recommends using a CAT5 cable. Figure 2-6. Ethernet Ports 2.3.3.1...

Serial Ports Note The FBxEdge software does not currently support serial-based communications. The RXi2-LP provides two serial interfaces, one (1) configured to RS-232 and one (2) configurable to RS-422 or RS-485 (2W/4W). The connector is a Phoenix Contact 1953745 or equivalent and mates with a Phoenix Contact 1952296.

3.1.1 IP Address Assigned by DHCP Server Before configuring an FBxEdge device, you first need the IP address the DHCP server dynamically assigns to that device: 1. Attach a keyboard (using the USB port) and a monitor (using the DP port) to the edge device.
  • Page 14: Ip Address Assigned Manually

Once you have the IP address for the edge device, proceed to FBxEdge. 3.1.2 IP Address Assigned Manually To assign a static IP address to an FBxEdge device: 1.
