Reinstalling the Ion Optics Cage Assembly

To reinstall the ion optics cage assembly
1. Reinstall the 3.25-in. ID Viton

2. Orient the ion optics cage assembly with the contact pins down, and then partially insert it
into the ion source mount assembly.
3. Feed the cable harness into the roughing pump adapter and reconnect the cable. Rotate the ion
optics cage assembly if necessary.
4. Insert the ion optics cage assembly completely so that the two interstage contact pins are
inserted into the sockets in the ion source mount assembly.
5. Ensure that the 3.25-in. ID Viton O-ring is properly seated between the ion optics cage
assembly and the ion source mount assembly.
6. Carefully press the wiring harness down into the recess in the bottom of the ion source mount
assembly so that the wires are out of the path of the ion source interface assembly that you will
install in the next procedure. See
