Maintenance

This chapter describes routine maintenance procedures that you must perform to ensure optimum
performance of the instrument. Optimum performance of the TSQ mass spectrometer depends on
the maintenance of all parts of the instrument. You are responsible for maintaining your system
properly by performing the system maintenance procedures on a regular basis.
Note When you perform maintenance procedures, be methodical; always wear clean, lint-free
gloves when handling the components of the ion source; always place the components on a
clean, lint-free surface; and never overtighten a screw or use excessive force.

tube, the ion sweep cone, the skimmer and tube lens of the TSQ Quantum Access and Ultra, the
exit lens and S-lens of the TSQ Vantage, the Q00 RF lens, the lens L0, and the fan filters.
Procedures for replacing the ion transfer tube and the capillary heater assembly are also provided.
For instructions on maintaining the LC or autosampler, refer to the manual that comes with the
LC or autosampler.
