Modes Of Operation and Corrections

The Azure 3131Z and 4131Z X-ray detectors support multiple modes of operation as defined in
Table 15 on page
25. All Azure X-ray detectors are preloaded with a configuration file containing
the default operating modes. Each mode is designed to optimize the X-ray detectors
performance for a given application. Modes can vary in the type of binning done to an image
(1 × 1, 2 × 2, 3 × 3, etc.) to increase or decrease spatial resolution and pixel gain response. The
gain of each pixel can also be changed to match the expected dose range for a particular
application, thus optimizing the dynamic range and noise performance for a given application.
The configuration of these modes is setup by Varex Imaging and cannot be
Note
altered by the final user.
IMPORTANT
The system runs in one mode at a time.
The Varex Imaging Azure X-ray detector configuration file is provided with
Note
a number of pre-defined standard modes most commonly used by Varex
Imaging OEMs. If modification to the standard configuration file is needed,
please contact your Varex Imaging representative.
Frame rate cannot exceed maximum frame rate for the mode selected.
Note
The Azure 3131Z Ethernet X-ray detector has the ability to modify the Region of Interest (ROI)
for selected modes (these includes the description "Programmable FOV"). In a programmable
mode, the user can modify the ROI in both directions, to increase the fps. The location of the ROI
can also be selected. This operation can be performed in both Viva Pro and through the SDK.
Please refer to 05834 Varex Smart Panel (VSP2) - Software Interface Specification for more
information.

Each mode must be calibrated for gain (including defect) and offset
before use to ensure proper operation.

on calibration.
Maximum frame rates for the Azure X-ray detector are valid for Continuous
X-ray only.
Pulsed X-ray is available on the Azure X-ray detector and the frame rate depends
on the Readout time and the X-ray window chosen.
