Mounting the X-ray Detector – OEM System
The X-ray detector must be used horizontally on a flat, stable surface, or if the detector is placed
vertically or in any tilted position, the detector must be securely fastened in that position. Use the
mounting holes provided on the X-ray detector to mount the detector securely to the system
platform.

Caution
The X-ray detector requires special mounting considerations that ensure air
circulation or conductive heat sinking. See Heat Sink Locations, for the best
heat sinking locations.

The X-ray detector's power supply may be connected to earth ground. This
connection together with the mandatory connection to earth ground via the
X-ray detector's grounding lug may create a ground loop which can lead to

increased image noise levels. To avoid any performance degradation caused
by ground loops ensure that the power supply ground and safety ground
terminate at one grounding point.
In addition to ground loops, stray currents flowing via the X-ray detector's
housing can also lead to increased image noise levels. Electrically isolating
the X-ray detector's housing from where it is mechanically connected to

systems may resolve this potential source of performance degradation. Note
that the ground connection using the X-ray detector's ground lug ensures
safe operation.
The enclosure of the X-ray detector must be connected to earth ground
through the X-ray detector grounding lug. This connection to earth
ground prevents potentially harmful voltages on the X-ray detector's
housing in case of X-ray detector or system malfunction.
The X-ray detector is a component of a digital imaging system and
needs to be properly integrated into the complete X-ray system. The
X-ray detector should only be lifted, carried, and installed by
personnel who are familiar with the installation of electrical
equipment and the use of X-ray systems.
