Control Modules
Part No. 238–624, Master Control Module
Part No. 238–625, Slave Control Module
The Horizon system consists of a number of control
modules that are connected by cables to form a net-
work. The control modules provide the operating intelli-
gence for the system. There are two types of control
modules:
the Master Control Module and
the Slave Control Module.
Both types of control modules perform similar func-
tions. They drive air and fluid solenoids and count
pulses from meters. They have on-board memory that
contains a map of all available system resources and a
power supply that can be configured for either 120 or
240 VAC operation.
Master Control Module
The Master Control Module has several unique fea-
tures:
It has additional memory to hold data for completed
dispense jobs.

It controls activity over the CAN (Controller Area
Network), which is the network that interconnects
the control modules in a larger system.
It provides the printer and/or computer interface.
It continuously tracks the time and date.
Control Module Specifications:
There can be a total of 40 control modules in a
system, 1 Master plus 39 Slaves. There must be
only one Master Control Module per system. Any
additional control modules are Slave Control Mod-
ules.
Each control module (Master or Slave) can support
up to 6 solenoids, either air or fluid type.
Each Control Module can support up to 6 pulse
meters.
The Master Control Module requires the use of the
System Administrator Keypad to enter or change
setup information or to run diagnostics.
The control modules can be located any distance
apart, provided that the total length of cable from
one end of the network to the other end is no more
than 2000 ft. (610 m) long.
The Master Control Module can be located any-
where in the network, but because of its output port
(for printer or computer), it should be near the shop
office or printer/computer location.
