WARNING
ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD
To reduce the risk of serious injury,
follow the Shutdown Procedure on
page 39 before servicing any part of the
Horizon system and before checking for loose or
shorted wires.
NOTE: See page 46 to order solenoid valves or Ready
Light Kits. The older Ready Light (with a red lens) is
not directly compatible with the Horizon system. Order
the new version of the Fluid Solenoid Kit, P/N
218–588, which has the new Ready Light (with a green
lens), or order the Ready Light Kit, P/N 238–996, and
install it on the existing solenoids.
To Clean the Solenoid Valve
The solenoid valve is normally closed, but foreign
matter could hold the valve open, preventing it from
stopping the fluid flow. Clean the valve as instructed
below.
1. Follow the Shutdown Procedure on page 39. Be
sure to open the dispensing valve controlled by the
solenoid valve to relieve line pressure.
2. Close the ball valve that is upstream of the sole-
noid valve.
3. Unscrew the nut (B), remove the operator (C), and
unscrew the piston (D) from the body (E). See
Fig. 17.
Maintenance
4. Clean the parts and the seat in the body. Blow air
into the body to clear the fluid passageways.
5. Assemble the solenoid valve.
6. Dispense fluid at the dispensing valve controlled by
the cleaned or replaced solenoid valve until all air
is purged from the system.
7. If the problem is not corrected, replace the sole-
noid valve.
