Regulatory Notices
CDRH Regulations
The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration implemented regulations for laser products on August 2, 1976. These
regulations apply to laser products manufactured from August 1, 1976. Compliance is
mandatory for products marketed in the United States.
This device is classified as a Class 1 laser product as defined by the CDRH regulations
(CFR 1040.10, para. b, item 5). This means that this is a Class of laser products that
does not emit hazardous laser radiation; this is possible only because the laser beam is
totally enclosed during all modes of customer operation.
The laser produces a beam that, if looked into, could cause eye damage. Installation and
Service procedures must be followed exactly as written without change.
