7. CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
Remove carbon deposits from the combustion
chamber.
Clean off any gasket residue from the cylinder
head contact surface.

Be careful not to damage the cylinder
head mating surface.
CYLINDER HEAD INPECTION
Check the spark plug hole and valve areas for
cracks.
Check the cylinder head for warp with a
straight edge and feeler gauge.
Service Limit:
0.05 mm repair or replace if over
VALVE SPRING
Measure the free length of the inner and outer
valve springs.
Service Limits:
34.1 mm replace if below
VALVE /VALVE GUIDE
Inspect each valve for bending, burning, or
abnormal stem wear.
Check valve movement in the guide.
Measure each valve stem O.D.
Measure each valve guide I.D.
Subtract the reading of valve guide I.D. from
the reading of valve stem O.D. to obtain the
stem-to-guide clearance.
Service limits:
IN: 0.08 mm replace if below
EX: 0.1 mm replace if below

Inspect each valve for bending, burning,
scratches or abnormal stem wear.
If any defects are found, r
Check valve movement in the guide.
Measure each valve stem O.D.
Measure each valve guide I.D.
Subtract each valve stem O.D. from the
corresponding guide I.D. to obtain the
stem-to-guide clearance.
