Note: If, in Meridian Mail, the Answer Retry Limit is set to zero, it cancels all
Remote Notification Requests. Therefore, the Percent Failed metric equals 100% so
this alert always triggers.
DNU Requests New Arrivals: The number of Delivery to Non-User requests that
were presented to the Outcalling feature during the period.
DNU Requests Cancelled by Retry: The number of Delivery to Non-User
requests cancelled due to exceeded busy, no answer, or answered not played limits;
or the message was stale (too old).
Requests Cancelled by Other: The number of delivery to non-user call attempts
where the call could not be completed.
Total Failed Outcalls: The total number of outcalls that failed due to retry or other
causes. This number, taken as a percentage of the total outcalls, triggers the alert if
the predefined threshold is equalled or exceeded.
The report is sorted by Date and Time period.
Analysis and Corrective Actions
If the Remote Notification or Delivery to Non-Users feature is integral to an
organization, this Alert provides some insight into the effectiveness of these
features. This Alert may indicate the need to investigate and improve upon the
policies used to govern the use of the RN and DNU features.
Too many failed outcalls may indicate an application setup problem. If most of the
failures are associated with one channel, it may indicate a channel hardware or
setup problem. Escalate this to your support agency. Also, run the Fax Audit Trail
Summary report to isolate the cause. See Chapter 11, "Multimedia Applications
Reports," for more information on the Fax Audit Trail Summary Report.

Remote Notification Target Problem Alert

This alert report is used to notify the administrator when the number of outcalling
failures to a particular Remote Notification (RN) target phone number equals or
exceeds a threshold. The threshold is the percentage of failed calls to the total
number of outcall attempts to a particular RN phone number. The information in
this report may indicate an invalid RN target, a paging service outage, or an RN
setup problem.
