• If the feature is generating extremely high usage, you may encounter system
performance problems, such as no free channels. Run a report on the individual
service to determine where the usage originates and whether it is a normal or
abnormal occurrence. This can be done by creating a custom report with a filter
for the selected service.
• Check the average length of Voice Menu and Announcement Accesses. If the
average length is long, review your menus and announcements to see if they can
be shortened. For menus, place the popular items first so that the users do not
need to stay on the line as long.
• To identify the busy hour traffic for your system(s), run the report with the interval
set for one day, midnight to midnight. A bar graph will be generated showing the
traffic (CCS/Erlangs) and accesses for each hour of the day. From this graph, it
is possible to visually pick the peak hour traffic. If there are no dedicated ports,
then the port capacity table in the chapter "Determining System Size" in the Site
and Installation Planning Guide (NTP 555-70x1-200), can be used to determine
if the busy hour traffic can be served by the number of ports on the system.
Note: If the reporting interval is one day, the graph displays the data for the last 24-
hour period only.
