Meridian Mail Reporter 2.0 User's Guide
Reports that are scheduled to print every month are always printed on the first day
of the month.
In addition to controlling the frequency with which reports are printed, Print
Schedule options also control the frequency with which ASCII Data Files are
created. The ASCII files are stored on the PC disk, and each new version of the
ASCII file overwrites its predecessor.
Output Customization
In the Output Customization window, you can set when a report prints, create an
ASCII file from the output of a report, and create tabular and graphical forms for
reports.
All MMR reports can be viewed or printed. However, Bill-Back Files are primarily
intended as input to a centralized billing system. Consequently, the default Printer
option (which enables the printing of a report) is set to No for all Bill-Back Files
(and to Yes for all other reports).
The ASCII Data File option is used to determine whether to create a Comma-
Separated Values (CSV) format ASCII file from the output of a report. If the option
is left blank, no ASCII file is created. If the option has a DOS file name, then a file
of the same name will be created in the \Reporter\ASCII directory of the default
hard drive. If the option had a DOS path name (of up to 128 characters), then a file
will be created at that location. It is important to note that the ASCII Data File
option only controls the creation of scheduled reports. CSV format ASCII files (as
well as several other PC format files) can be created from previewed reports by
clicking the Export button in the Print Preview window.
All MMR reports have a tabular format, and six reports also have a graphical
format. The Tabular and Graph options determine which form of the report to
produce. By default, all but one of the six reports with a graphical format are set to
provide both the Tabular and Graph forms of the report. The exception is the
Channel Problem Identification report where the default setting provides only a
graph. Note that the Graph option cannot be modified for the reports that do not
offer a graphical format.
By using the standard Windows Print Manager, MMR Reports adapts to a variety
of printers (such as ink jet and laser printers) and configurations (such as direct
connect and LAN-based printers). Furthermore, MMR Reports can save reports as
Post Script files by using Print Manager.
