FINAL DRIVE

FRONT GEARCASE REMOVAL

1. Remove seat from vehicle.
2. Remove the upper and main floor boards.
3. Remove the spring pin securing the prop shaft to the
front gearcase input shaft.
4. Slide the prop shaft rearward to remove from
gearcase.
5. Disconnect the gearcase wire harness connector.
6. Elevate front of vehicle and safely support machine
under the frame area.
CAUTION
Serious injury may result if machine tips or falls. Be
sure machine is secure before beginning this service
procedure. Wear eye protection when removing
bearings and seals.
7. Remove the four wheel nuts and remove the front
wheel.

8. Remove the cotter pin

. Remove the nut, and two cone

washers
from the front wheel hub assembly.
9. Remove the fastener retaining the steering tie rod
end to the front bearing carrier.
10. Remove and discard the two front brake caliper
mounting bolts and remove the caliper from the brake
disc (see Chapter 9 –
CAUTION
Do not hang the caliper by the brake line. Use wire to
hang caliper to prevent damage to the brake line.
11. Remove the front wheel hub assembly
12. Remove and discard the upper ball joint pinch bolt
13. Remove the fastener retaining the front stabilizer bar
link to the upper control arm.
