2. Spring pre-tension will affect latching force and also
determines the closing force at the full open position. It is
recommended to first adjust spring pre-tension to the
minimum tension required to close the door from full open
and then modify rack position and damper torque to achieve
desired latching force and travel speed.
IMPORTANT: Spring pre-tension is REQUIRED. Maintain
enough spring tension to keep the belt taut.
3. To increase spring pre-tension, close and latch the door then
remove the belt retaining screw from the belt clamp. Use
needle nosed pliers to grasp the belt and pull it outwards
from the clamp then pulling in the opening direction a few
inches and re-inserting the belt into the clamp. Re-install the
retaining screw and check the results. Repeat as needed.
(Ref. FIG 2.3)
4. Latching force is adjusted by the position of the gear rack. To
increase latching force, move the rack away from the jamb.
To decrease, move the rack toward the jamb.
5. Travel speed can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing
damper torque. Decrease door travel speed by turning the
adjustment screw located on the back of the damper body
clockwise. To increase travel speed, turn the screw counter-
clockwise. (Ref. FIG 2.4)
6. After completing adjustments, trim the belt tail to 2"-3" long.
(Ref. FIG 2.3)
7. Close and latch the cover.
