If children are le unsupervised in the vehicle,
they could, in particular:
open doors, thereby endangering other

persons or road users.

operate vehicle equipment and become

trapped, for example.
In addition, the children could also set the
vehicle in motion, for example by:
releasing the parking brake.

changing the transmission position.

starting the vehicle.

Never leave children unattended in the

When leaving the vehicle, always take the

SmartKey with you and lock the vehicle.
Keep the vehicle SmartKey out of reach
#
of children.

GER Risk of death caused by exhaust
gases
Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
gases such as carbon monoxide. Inhaling these
exhaust gases is hazardous to health and leads
to poisoning.
Never leave the engine or, if present, the
#
auxiliary heating running in an enclosed
space without su cient ventilation.

ARNING Risk of re due to ammable
material in the engine compartment or the
exhaust system
Flammable materials may ignite.
Therefore, check regularly that there are
#
no ammable materials in the engine
compartment or on the exhaust system.

If the key does not belong to the vehicle, it can
still be turned in the ignition lock. The vehicle
is not switched on and cannot be started.
Insert the key into the ignition lock in position
#
g and turn it to the desired position.

Protect the engine during the rst 1,000 miles
(1,500 km) by:
Driving at varying road and engine speeds.
R
Shi ing to the next highest gear at the very lat-
R
est when the needle reaches the last third
before the red area in the tachometer.
Avoiding stress on the vehicle such as driving
R
at full throttle.
Not shi ing manually to a lower gear to brake.
R
A er 1,000 miles (1,500 km), gradually
R
increasing the engine speed and accelerating
the vehicle up to full speed.
Not depressing the accelerator pedal past the
R
pressure point (kickdown).
This also applies if the engine or parts of the drive-
train have been replaced.
Also observe the following breaking-in notes:
A er the vehicle has been delivered or a er
R
repairs, the sensor system of some driving sys-
tems and driving safety systems adjusts itself
automatically a er the vehicle has been driven
a certain distance. Full system e ectiveness is
not reached until the end of this teach-in proc-
ess.
New or exchanged brakepads, brake discs and
R
tires only provide optimal braking and bonding
a er several hundred kilometers. Until then,
