The braking e ect is reduced a er washing the
vehicle.
A er the vehicle has been washed, brake
#
carefully while paying attention to the
tra c conditions until the braking e ect
has been fully restored.
* N N O O TE TE Damage to the vehicle due to auto-
matic braking
When the following functions are activated, the
vehicle brakes automatically in certain situa-
tions:
Active Brake Assist
R
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
R
HOLD function
R
To avoid damage to the vehicle, deactivate
these systems in the following or similar situa-
tions:
When towing
#
In a car wash
#
* N N O O TE TE Damage due to unsuitable car wash
Before driving into a car wash make sure
#
that the car wash is suitable for the vehi-
cle dimensions.
Ensure there is su cient ground clear-
#
ance between the underbody and the
guide rails of the car wash.
Ensure that the clearance width of the
#
car wash, in particular the width of the
guide rails, is su cient.
To avoid damage to your vehicle, observe the fol-
lowing before using an automatic car wash:
Active Brake Assist is deactivated.
R
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is deactiva-
R
ted.
The HOLD function is switched o .
R
The side windows and roof are completely
R
closed.
The outside mirrors are folded in and an addi-
R
tional antenna is removed, if present.
The climate control blower is switched o .
R
omatic car
The windshield wiper switch is in position g.
R
If the vehicle is very dirty, wash o excess dirt
before cleaning the vehicle in an automatic car
wash.
A er leaving the car wash, pay attention to the fol-
lowing:
The outside mirrors are fully folded out again
R
and an additional antenna is mounted again, if
present.
Remove wax residues on the windshield and
R
wiper rubbers to prevent smearing and reduce
wiper noise.
Remove wax residues from the camera lens in
vehicles with a rear view camera (

ARNING Risk of an accident when using
power washers with round-spray nozzles
The water jet can cause externally invisible
damage.
Components damaged in this way may unex-
pectedly fail.
Do not use a power washer with round-
#
spray nozzles.
Have damaged tires or chassis parts
#
replaced immediately.
* N N O O TE TE Damage to component parts due to
improper high-pressure cleaning
Components can be damaged if the distance
of the high-pressure nozzle is too small.
Maintain a minimum distance of about
#
12 in (30 cm) between the high-pressure
nozzle and car parts.
Do not use a power washer with a round-
#
spray nozzle.
Keep the water jet moving constantly
#
while cleaning.
Do not clean the following components
#
with the power washer:
