You could lose control of the vehicle in the fol-
lowing situations in particular:
When braking

In the event of abrupt steering maneuvers

For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you only use batteries which have been
approved for your vehicle by Mercedes-Benz.
These batteries provide increased impact protec-
tion to prevent vehicle occupants from su ering
acid burns should the battery be damaged in an
accident.

ARNING Risk of explosion due to elec-
trostatic charge
Electrostatic charge can ignite the highly explo-
sive gas mixture in the battery.
To discharge any electrostatic charge
#
that may have built up, touch the metal
vehicle body before handling the battery.
The highly ammable gas mixture is created while
the battery is charging and when jump-starting.
Make sure that neither you nor the battery is elec-
trostatically charged.
Electrostatic charge can occur in the following
cases, for example:
You are wearing synthetic clothing.
R
There is friction between your clothing and the
R
seat.
If you drag or push the battery across a carpet
R
or other synthetic materials
You rub the battery with cloths or towels
