The restraint system can help prevent the vehicle
occupants from coming into contact with parts of
the vehicle interior in the event of an accident. In
the event of an accident, the restraint system can
also reduce the forces to which the vehicle occu-
pants are subjected.
Only a seat belt which is worn correctly can pro-
vide the intended level of protection. Depending on
the detected accident situation, seat belt tension-
ers and/or airbags supplement the protection
o ered by a correctly worn seat belt. Seat belt ten-
sioners and/or airbags are not deployed in every
accident.
In order for the restraint system to provide the
intended level of protection, each vehicle occupant
must observe the following information:
Fasten seat belts correctly.
R
Sit in an almost upright seat position with their
R
back against the seat backrest.
Sit with their feet resting on the oor, if possi-
R
ble.
Always secure persons under 5
R
in an additional restraint system suitable for
this vehicle.
However, no system available today can completely
eliminate injuries and fatalities in every accident
situation. In particular, the seat belt and airbag
generally do not protect against objects penetrat-
ing the vehicle from the outside. It is also not pos-
sible to completely rule out the risk of injury
caused by the airbag deploying.

When the vehicle is switched on, a self-test is per-
formed, during which the 6 restraint system
warning lamp lights up. It goes out no later than a
few seconds a er the vehicle is started. The com-

tional.
