The system may be impaired or may not function in
the following situations:
If there is poor visibility, e.g. due to insu cient
R
illumination of the road, if there are highly vari-
able shade conditions or in rain, snow, fog or
spray.
Glare from oncoming tra c, direct sunlight or
R
re ections.
There is dirt on the windshield in the vicinity of
R
the multifunction camera or the camera is fog-
ged up, damaged or obscured.
No or several unclear lane markings are pres-
R
ent for one lane, e.g. in a construction area.
If the lane markings are worn away, dark or
R
covered up.
If the distance to the vehicle in front is too
R
short and thus the lane markings cannot be
detected.
The lane markings change quickly, e.g. lanes
R
branch o , cross one another or merge.
The roadway is very narrow and winding.

Press the Ç button.

If the indicator lamp in the button lights up and
the instrument cluster display shows the Ç
symbol in the status area, Lane Keeping Assist
is activated but not ready for use.
If you are driving with Lane Keeping Assist acti-
vated at speeds above 40 mph (60 km/h) and
lane markings are detected, the instrument
cluster display shows the Ç symbol high-
lighted in the status area. Lane Keeping Assist
is then ready for use.
