& D D AN
ANGER
GER Risk of poisoning from exhaust
gases
Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
gases, such as carbon monoxide. Exhaust
gases can enter the vehicle interior if the tail-
gate or the rear-end door is open when the
engine is running, especially if the vehicle is in
motion.
Always switch o the engine before
#
opening the tailgate or the rear-end door.
Never drive with the tailgate or rear-end
#
door open.
& W W ARNING
ARNING Risk of injury from unsecured
objects in the vehicle
When objects are unsecured or inadequately
secured, they can slip, tip over or be thrown
about, striking vehicle occupants.
This also applies to:
Luggage or loads
R
Seats which have been removed and are
R
being transported in the vehicle in an
exceptional case
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of braking maneuvers or abrupt changes
in direction.
Always stow objects in such a way that
#
they cannot be tossed about.
Before traveling, secure objects, luggage
#
or load to prevent them slipping or tip-
ping over.
When a seat is removed, keep it prefera-
#
bly outside the vehicle.
& W W ARNING
ARNING Risk of accident due to incor-
rectly placed load
The center of gravity of the load may be too
high and/or too far back.
This can signi cantly impair the driving, steer-
ing and braking characteristics.
Always ensure that the center of gravity
#
of the load is between the axles and as
low as possible near the rear axle.
& W W ARNING
ARNING Risk of accident due to exceed-
ing the permissible wheel/axle loads or
the gross vehicle weight
The driving characteristics, as well as steering
and braking, may be greatly impaired. Overloa-
ded tires may overheat and burst as a conse-
quence.
When transporting a load, always
#
observe the permissible wheel loads,
axle loads and the maximum permissible
gross mass for the vehicle (including
occupants).
& W W ARNING
ARNING Risk of injury if unsuitable
climbing aids are used
If you use openings in the vehicle's body work
or detachable parts as steps, you could:
Slip and/or fall.
R
Damage the vehicle and thus slip and fall.
R
Always use anti-slip, stable climbing aids,
#
e.g. a suitable ladder.
* N N O O TE TE Damage caused by the use of open-
ings in the bodywork or detachable part as
a step
Using the lower guide of the sliding door (car-
riage) as a step can damage the trim and/or
mechanism of the sliding door.
Do not use the guide of the sliding door
#
(carriage) as a step.
If you are using a roof luggage rack, please note
the maximum roof load and the maximum load
capacity of the roof luggage rack (
The handling characteristics of your vehicle are
dependent on the load distribution.
Therefore, please observe the following notes
when loading:
the load must not protrude above the upper
R
edge of the seat backrests.
if possible, always transport the load in the
R
cargo compartment.
fasten the load to the tie-down eyes and dis-
R
tribute the load evenly among them.
