An airbag's installation location is identi ed by the
label AIRBAG.
When enabled, an airbag can provide additional
protection for the respective vehicle occupant.
Possible protection per airbag:
Driver's airbag, co-driver's airbag: head and

ribcage
Window airbag: head
R
Side airbag: ribcage and pelvis
R

ARNING Risk of injury or death if the co-
driver airbag is enabled
If the co-driver airbag is enabled, a child on the
co-driver seat may be struck by the co-driver
airbag during an accident.
Occupant safety
NEVER use a rearward-facing child restraint
system on a seat with an ENABLED FRONT
AIRBAG; DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY to the
CHILD can occur.
When installing a child restraint system on the co-
driver's seat, observe the vehicle-speci c informa-
tion (
page 39). Also be sure to observe the
/
notes on rearward-facing or forward-facing child
restraint systems on the co-driver's seat.

The co-driver's airbag can only be deployed in the
event of an accident if the PASSENGER AIR BAG
OFF indicator lamp is o . If the co-driver's seat is
occupied, make sure, both before and during the
journey, that the status of the co-driver's airbag is
correct (
page 32).

NOTE TE Deployment of components of the
restraint system when the front passenger
seat is unoccupied
In an accident, the components of the restraint
system may deploy unnecessarily on the front
passenger side if:
There are heavy objects on the front
R
passenger seat.
The seat belt tongue is engaged in the seat
R
belt buckle of the front passenger seat and
the front passenger seat is unoccupied.
Store objects in a suitable place.

Only one person should use each seat

Depending on the accident situation, an airbag
may supplement the protection o ered by a cor-
rectly fastened seat belt.

incorrect seat position
If you deviate from the correct seat position,
the airbag cannot perform its intended protec-
tive function.
Each vehicle occupant must make sure of the
