Mercedes-Benz recommends that you stay
within a wheel size category when changing a
tire. In this way, you avoid recoding the control
units.
Due to the legally prescribed accuracy of the
speedometer and odometer displays, the following
tires are not permitted for taxis and rental cars:
Wheel size category 1
R
195/65 R16C
-
Wheel size category 2
R
225/55 R17XL
-
245/45 R18XL
-
If the wheel size category changes, you must have
your vehicle's control units recoded at a quali ed
specialist workshop.

Tires with a speci ed direction of rotation have
additional bene ts, e.g. if there is a risk of hydro-
planing. You will only gain these bene ts if the cor-
rect direction of rotation is observed.
An arrow on the sidewall of the tire indicates its
correct direction of rotation.
You may also install a spare wheel against the
direction of rotation. Observe the time restriction
on use as well as the speed limitation speci ed on
the spare wheel.
