Function test of the MSS 3RK3 Basic

Step Action
1 Switch on the power supply.
2 Choose "Edit" > "Check consistency".
3 Choose "Target system" > "Load to switching device" and
confirm the memory dialog with "Yes".
4 Save the project.
5 Set the communications interface through which you
have access to the device (e.g. COM1) and confirm with
"OK".
6 Confirm with "OK".
7 Choose "Target system" > "Test mode" and confirm the
message "Activate test mode" with "Yes".
8 Assign a new password and confirm it. The default pass‐
word is 0000.
Testing the functions
The MSS 3RK3 can be switched to "test mode" so that the full function test can be conducted.
Outputs of function elements can be forced in this operating mode.
You can create printouts of the configuration to help you in the function test by choosing "Target
system" > "Prepare configuration test".
Step Action
1 Check whether the EMERGENCY STOP has been un‐
locked and the protective field of the ESPE is free.
2 Press the Start button.
3 Press both buttons of the two-hand operator panel si‐
multaneously.
4 Press EMERGENCY STOP.
5 Unlock the EMERGENCY STOP and press the Start but‐
ton.
6 Place a suitable object in the protection zone of the
ESPE.

Result
The safety relay executes a self-test.
If no message is displayed in the output window, the
test was successful.
The "Save switching device as" dialog box opens.
The "Load to switching device" dialog box opens.
The configuration data is now downloaded. A message
is displayed on completion of the download.
You are now online in configuring mode.
The "Change password for test mode" dialog box opens.
The MSS 3RK3 changes from configuring mode to test
mode.

The contactors QA and QB pick up.
If the two-hand operator panel is pressed again, contac‐
tors QA and QB do not pick up.
The "EMERGENCY STOP" function element is acknowl‐
edged.
If the two-hand operator panel is pressed again while the
light curtain is interrupted, contactors QA and QB do not
pick up.
