CNF 002 Configuring System IP Address, Subnet Mask or
Default Route/Gateway
Section 1: Introduction
This job card explains how to change the title items or add a subnet mask or default route from the
local workstation to a gateway device.
The gateway may be required when the network changes and TCP/IP information is required to pass
through a network routing device. A default route must be added to tell the workstation how to get to
other devices on the other side of the routing device.

Section 2: Prerequisites
The IP address of the default routing device.
Section 3: Procedure
3-1 Set IP Address & Subnet Mask
1.
Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Dial-up Connections..
2.
Right click on Local area connections and select Properties.
3.
Select (TCP/IP) and click on Properties

Caution must be used when adding default routes. An incorrect route entry
could cause loss of network communications for the workstation that the
default route was added to.
