10.1. Using the air pump with air bags and vacuum
cushions
The accessories include an air pump with two valves for deflating vacuum cushions and inflating air
bags.
Vacuum cushions are soft when inflated. They can be used to simply support the patient in a
comfortable position or to allow oblique positioning when necessary. When deflated, the cushion
turns solid and can be used to immobilize the patient.
Vacuum cushions can be used instead of the normal head rest to provide the patient added support
and comfort. The cushions can be inflated or deflated at any stage during the treatment, as this
does not affect the patient's position.
