6.7.3. Test sonication

WARNING
If the couch has been unlocked for any reason, always perform a test sonication once the
Table Top has been pushed back to the treatment position.
It is recommended to repeat test sonication always when the Table Top lock or the trolley brake
lock is re-engaged after being released. A test sonication is a short, low power sonication which
usually heats the tissue by only a few degrees. Test sonication is automatically done with the 4 mm
regular cell type.
You must perform a test sonication in each treatment cell cluster before you can start the actual
therapy sonications in that cluster.
It is recommended to perform a test sonication also when the sonication frequency is changed. The
purpose of the test sonication is to correct the actual heating location to match the planned cell
position. The actual heating location is indicated with an offset marker (a green cross). The test
sonication also helps you in determining the correct power level for the treatment cell size. It
provides information you need for selecting the correct power level.
