Section 5 – Procedures
5.4-26 Boom Extension (Dual Load) Limit
Switch (LS5)
LS5 enables the system to change to and from the
low and high capacity load zones, as the boom
extends or retracts.
LS5 is normally closed. The switch roller makes
contact with a ramp on the side of the mid boom to
open its contacts. When the boom is extended far
enough, the switch roller rides up on the ramp, the
contact opens, and the system changes from the high
to the low capacity zone.
LS5 is the upper limit switch on the platform end of
the main boom.

NOTE
Make sure the switch roller rotates freely and the
switch arm is free to move as the boom extends
and retracts.
When equipped with automatic platform load
sensing (CE machines), an overload state is detected
automatically when the switch trips. The system then
does not allow the boom to extend into the 500 lb
(227 kg) zone (1).
