Conclusion:
Phase rotation in the QD Cable helps an IQ8D Microinverter system to achieve phase balance across all 3 phases.
If IQ8D Microinverters in the system are not in multiples of 3 then the number of micros across each phase (L1-L2, L2-
L3 & L3-L1) may differ by maximum of 1 micros for a phase connection. Please refer to local AHJ rules on acceptable
phase imbalance across the system.
Scenario 5: An IQ8D System with 41 Microinverters has 5 AC branch circuits of varied sizes, with 3 skipped QD
connectors (for roof obstructions) and has used 7.9 ft QD Cable SKU QD-12-20-135 with end feeding of AC branch circuit.
The following system diagram explains how the QD Cable rotation impacts the phase imbalance across the system in a
case where installation demands skipping few connectors to meet the installation requirements due to roof obstructions/
layout. Similar methodology can be used for any system size when an AC branch circuit is center fed and has varied
branch circuit size with few skipped connectors.
