15.3 Checkin the starter relay

Removing the battery

Warning
Risk of injury Battery acid and battery gases cause serious chemical burns.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

Wear suitable protective clothing and goggles.

Avoid contact with battery acid and battery gases.
Keep sparks and open flames away from the battery. Only charge in well-ventilated rooms.
In the event of skin contact, rinse with large amounts of water. If battery acid gets in the eyes, rinse with water for at
least 15 minutes and contact a physician.
Check that the power consumer is functioning properly.
Close the fuse box cover.
Finishing work
Mount the seat.
Preparatory work
Switch off all power consumers and switch off the engine.
Remove the seat.
Remove the air filter box cover.
Main work
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Pull the starter relay off of the holder.
Pull off connector
Disconnect cables @ and
Connect the starter relay to a 12 V power supply as shown.
Iii
Measure the resistance between the specified points.

Resistance of open circuit
If the value displayed does not meet specifications:
-
Change the starter relay.

Preparatory work
Switch off all power consumers and switch off the engine.
Remove the seat.
Main work
Pull back the negative terminal cover
the battery.
Pull back the positive terminal cover @ and disconnect the positive cable from
the battery.
Detach rubber band
Lift the battery up and out.
