3 Troubleshooting
This section provides instructions to determine the likely cause of a specific performance problem.
3.1

Overview

To use this section effectively, find the subheading that best describes the problem and follow the
recommendations in the order listed. If replacing a module is recommended and the symptom persists, remove
the newly replaced module and reinstall the original. Proceed to the next recommendation. This practice make
sures that modules are not replaced unnecessarily. See
instructions on module replacement.
NOTE: To aid in service and warranty claims, Christie electronically tracks the serial numbers of all modules
within a projector. On the warranty card, please record the serial number of the new module installed, as well
as the serial number of the defective module. Return the completed warranty card and the defective module to
Christie.

3.1.1 Troubleshooting Guidelines

Consider the following before you suspect a performance problem:
• Make Sure the projector is plugged in and the correct voltage is available for the projector model. On some
models, the projector will go to standby with less than the rated voltage, but will not strike the lamp unless
the rated AC voltage is available.
• Make Sure the power switch is in the ON position.
• Check for a normal power up sequence. See
• Check the status display window for any error codes present. Correct these if possible.
• Check source reliability. Switch sources if possible.
• Use RS232 serial communications to communicate with the projector during diagnosis.
• Make Sure cables are connected and not damaged.

3.1.2 Help With Troubleshooting

If a performance problem still exists after referring to the chart and replacing the recommended module(s),
please contact Christie for additional help.
