System/process error messages
General notes
The measuring device always assigns system and process errors which occur to two
types of error messages, resulting in different weightings.
"Fault message" error message type:
• If this message occurs, measuring operation is immediately interrupted or stopped.
• Display on the FOUNDATION Fieldbus → Fault messages are relayed to downstream
function blocks or higher-level process control systems by means of the status "BAD"
for the corresponding process variable.
• Local display → A lightning symbol ($) flashes on the display.
"Notice message" error message type:
• Normal measuring operation continues despite this message.
• Display on the FOUNDATION Fieldbus → Notice messages are relayed to
downstream function blocks or higher-level process control systems by means of the
status "UNCERTAIN" for the corresponding process variable.
• Local display → An exclamation mark (!) flashes on the display.
Serious system errors, e.g. electronic module defects, are always categorised and
displayed as "Fault messages" by the measuring device. On the other hand, the
measuring system interprets simulations and positive zero return as "Notice messages".
Error messages in the FF configuration programmes
→ see table on Page 91
In Prosonic Flow 93, system/process errors are recognised and reported in the
Transducer Block "TRANSDUCER_DIAG" (base index 1600).
Such errors are displayed via the following parameters specified in the FOUNDATION
Fieldbus Specification:
• BLOCK_ERR
• Transducer Error
In addition, detailed information on the causes of the error and device status messages
are displayed via the "Diagnosis - Actual System Condition" parameter (manufacturer-
specific) in the Transducer Block "TRANSDUCER_DIAG" (base index 1600) → Page 91.
Error messages on the local display
→ see table on Page 91
A detailed explanation of how error messages are displayed is provided on Page 59.
