Cable Length and Lobe Wiring Rules for
Shared-Media LAN Segments
The types of cables that can be used in shared-media segments (half-duplex) are the
same as those described for dedicated-media segments on page 233.
Note: For an STS16-20RM, the acceptable cable lengths are defined by the hub or
concentrator attached to the switch port, but in general the distances are half of that
stated in the tables above for dedicated-media segments.
Note: For an STS16-20FRM, the acceptable alternate fiber cable lengths are
defined by the hub or concentrator attached to the switch port. Usually the
maximum fiber length of 2000 m can be supported.
