Appendix B. Cable and Pin Information

This appendix provides information on cables that can be used with the STS16-
20RM and the STS16-20FRM Token Ring switches. It also provides minimum pin-
out information to be used to verify that the cables are correctly wired.

Connecting to the Out-of-Band Management Port

Table 13 lists the type of cables that are used when connecting to the OBM port
(labeled MANAGEMENT) on the front panel of the switch.

Connect a modem to the
MANAGEMENT port.
Connect a PC or other DTE
device to the
MANAGEMENT port.

MANAGEMENT port. Then, attach a
straight-through modem cable to the null-
modem adapter.
