2.2.12. Page Separation and Data Reduction

Incoming pages that are only slightly longer than the copy paper may be re-
duced in the sub-scan direction. Whether or not this happens depends on the
settings of printer bit switches 04 and 05.
Reduction Enabled
If bit 0 of printer switch 03 is at 1 (Enabled), the data will be reduced in the
page memory to fit on the copy paper. However, data will only be reduced if
the length of the incoming page is between 5 mm shorter and a certain maxi-
mum length. This maximum incoming page length that can be reduced
depends on the copy paper size and on the reduction ratio stored in printer
switches 04 and 05.
Each paper size can be programmed with a separate reduction ratio. In each
of the two bit switches, there is one bit for each possible paper size. The com-
bination of the bit settings determines the ratio for that paper size.

The following table shows the maximum incoming page length that can be re-
duced for each copy paper size. All length are in millimeters. The factory
setting of the reduction ratio is 4/3.
