4. Reading in a designator with the barcode pen

Barcode pen only operates at a baud rate
of 19200 (see "baud rate" on page 49).
The barcode pen automatically assigns the measured data to a
measuring location.
If a barcode label is available on location you can read it in with the
barcode pen.
The barcode pen is inserted in the RS-232 socket at the side of the
analyser and can be plugged in and out if the analyser is on. Attaching
the barcode pen with the holder to the SoftCase (item no. 0516.0501)
makes handling easier.
Activate the barcode pen by holding the tip of the pen on a white
surface e.g. the barcode label.
Then run the pen over the barcode strip. Correct transmission is
confirmed by an audible signal.
The designator is automatically added to the testo 300 XL-I
designator list and is selected as the active designator. You, therefore,
do not need to input the customer´s number beforehand via PC or by
hand into the testo 300 XL-I. If you have a customer whose number
is not yet saved in the analyser, you can read in the number to testo
300 XL-I directly on location via the barcode. If a designator has
already been read into testo 300 XL only this is activated.
