Patient Activated Bolus

The BodyGuard 545 Color Vision
patient to request boluses of a specified volume within predetermined time intervals.
The patient can request the bolus by one of the following two methods:
Using a Bolus Cable for Epidural
SAFETY CHECK: Prior to connecting the bolus cable to the pump test the bolus cable.
Press and release the handset button – you should feel and hear an audible click each
time. If you do not hear an audible click, the handset may be damaged and should be
removed from use. Contact your local distributor.
Press the button on the bolus cable handset. The bolus cable plugs into the side
of the pump where a label reads "Bolus". Your bolus cable may be equipped with
an LED. The LED indicator will illuminate when a bolus is available. It will be turned
off when bolus is not available or the program is in "bolus locked" state.
NOTE: User can stop bolus at any time by pressing
NOTE: If patient requests more boluses than are allowed, the pump will display
"Bolus Locked" and will track the amount of boluses that have been requested.
The bolus history can be reviewed by scrolling the Info Menu. See "Using
History Functions" section of the DFU
NOTE: During operation bolus parameters (volume and interval time) can be
changed by pressing

Auto Bolus

Auto bolus is the function that sets an automatic (intermittent) bolus. Auto bolus can be
combined together with patient controlled bolus. Auto bolus is not available on pump
default settings; it must be activated via the technician menu.
NOTE: When a protocol is selected with the auto bolus feature activated the
pump will deliver the predetermined dose at a predetermined time without the
need for a remote bolus request by the patient/operator of the device.
